Shipping policy
The Cake Daddy Shipping Policy
At The Cake Daddy, we take great care when preparing, packaging and dispatching your cake to ensure it reaches you in the best possible condition.
1. Delivery Service
We offer the following Royal Mail delivery options for postal cake orders:
Royal Mail Tracked 24 – £6.99
This is our standard delivery service. Royal Mail Tracked 24 aims to deliver parcels the next working day after dispatch. However, this is not a guaranteed next-day service, and occasional delays can occur which are outside of our control.
Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm – £30
For customers who require a more time-sensitive delivery, we offer Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm. This service provides guaranteed next-working-day delivery by 1pm, subject to Royal Mail's service terms and availability.
We strongly recommend selecting a delivery date at least one day before your event wherever possible, particularly when using Royal Mail Tracked 24. This provides additional time in the unlikely event of a courier delay.
2. Dispatch & Delivery Dates
The dispatch date is the date your cake leaves our premises and is handed over to the courier. It is not the same as the delivery date.
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive tracking information so you can follow the progress of your delivery.
Although we carefully select our delivery services, courier delays can occasionally happen due to circumstances outside The Cake Daddy's control.
3. Temperature Control
We carefully consider weather conditions when preparing cakes for delivery.
When temperatures are expected to rise above 20°C, we take additional temperature-control precautions. An ice pack is placed underneath the cake box, and the package is wrapped in thermal insulation foil to help protect the cake during transit.
These measures are designed to help maintain a suitable temperature during delivery; however, customers should bring the parcel indoors as soon as possible once delivered, particularly during warmer weather.
4. Receiving & Storing Your Cake
Once your cake arrives, please carefully remove it from its delivery packaging and keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat.
Our cakes do not normally need to be refrigerated.
If you choose to refrigerate your cake, we recommend placing it in an airtight container before putting it into the fridge to help protect the cake from moisture and other food odours.
5. Delivery Delays
Royal Mail Tracked 24 is an estimated next-working-day delivery service and is not guaranteed.
Unfortunately, once a parcel has been collected by Royal Mail, the delivery process is outside of our direct control. The Cake Daddy cannot guarantee that Royal Mail Tracked 24 will deliver on the estimated date.
For this reason, we recommend arranging delivery before the day of your celebration wherever possible or selecting Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm (£30) if you require a guaranteed next-working-day service.
6. Incorrect or Incomplete Addresses
Customers are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address when placing an order.
Please check your address carefully, including the house or flat number, street name and postcode.
We cannot accept responsibility for failed or delayed deliveries caused by incorrect or incomplete address information supplied when ordering.
7. Missed Deliveries
Customers are responsible for ensuring that someone is available to receive the parcel or that appropriate delivery arrangements have been made with the courier.
If Royal Mail is unable to deliver your parcel, you should follow the instructions provided through your tracking information to arrange redelivery or collection.
8. Damaged Cakes
Every cake is carefully prepared and securely packaged before leaving The Cake Daddy.
If your cake arrives damaged, please contact us as soon as possible after delivery and provide clear photographs of:
- The outer delivery packaging
- The cake box
- The cake as it appeared when the box was first opened
- Any visible damage to the parcel
Please keep all packaging while we investigate the issue.
This allows us to assess what has happened and, where appropriate, raise the matter with the courier.
9. Bank Holidays & Courier Closures
Royal Mail collection and delivery schedules may change around bank holidays, Christmas and other public holidays.
Where necessary, we may adjust your dispatch date or contact you to discuss alternative delivery arrangements.
We recommend ordering as early as possible during busy or holiday periods.
10. Responsibility After Delivery
Once your cake has been successfully delivered, responsibility for the storage and handling of the cake passes to the customer.
Please follow the storage guidance above and keep the cake protected from heat, direct sunlight and unsuitable conditions.
By placing an order with The Cake Daddy, you acknowledge and accept the delivery information contained within this Shipping Policy.
